Leah Freeman Posted Tuesday, May 13, 2025 @ 10:06 AM Orlando, FL (May 12, 2025) – Jim Wilkening, Executive Director of the University of Central Florida (UCF) Recreation and Wellness Center, and Emilee Howard, Intramural Sports & RWC Park Coordinator, were honored for their exceptional leadership and service as Co-Chairs of the 2025 NIRSA Annual Conference Host Committee. Held April 23–26 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, the conference brought together campus recreation professionals and students from across North America. NIRSA: Leaders in Collegiate Recreation is a premier organization dedicated to advancing recreation, sport, and wellness in higher education. As the host institution, UCF’s Recreation and Wellness Center played a vital role in supporting the execution of this national event, offering valuable resources, insight, and coordination for the attendee experience. The City of Orlando Commissioner, Shan Rose, provided the welcome for the event and a NIRSA Proclamation to recognize the efforts of the organization. Wilkening and Howard’s efforts were formally recognized by NIRSA for their outstanding contributions to planning and facilitating a successful and engaging conference experience. The annual NIRSA Conference offers professional development opportunities, innovative educational sessions, and extensive networking for individuals committed to collegiate recreation and student well-being.
