Orlando, FL (March 3, 2025) – The UCF Recreation and Wellness Center (RWC) is proud to announce that Leah Freeman, Marketing & Communications Manager, has been named one of UCF’s 30 Under 30 award recipients for 2025. This prestigious honor recognizes outstanding UCF alumni under the age of 30 who have made a significant impact in their professional fields and communities.

Freeman’s influence at UCF and beyond extends far beyond marketing. A vocal advocate against gun violence, she has courageously shared her story as a survivor of the 2021 Halloween shooting, which left her temporarily unable to walk. Through her advocacy, she works to raise awareness and push for change, ensuring a safer future for communities.

Her commitment to uplifting Black students at UCF is evident in her work as a mentor and advocate. Freeman played a crucial role in the founding of UCF’s Cultural Center, creating a space for diverse voices to be heard and celebrated. She also serves as the Faculty Advisor for the Nu Chi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity and Men of Integrity, guiding students in their personal and professional growth.

Freeman’s dedication to community empowerment and economic equity is evident in her work beyond campus. She secured a $10,000 grant for the African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida, helping to fund initiatives that support Black-owned businesses. Her passion for service is also reflected in her leadership with Men of Integrity, where she launched groundbreaking initiatives such as the first textbook scholarship and the Gentlemen’s Brunch, fostering fellowship and growth among young Black men.

The UCF 30 Under 30 Awards, presented by the UCF Young Alumni Council, celebrate alumni who exemplify the university’s values of excellence, integrity, and impact. Freeman’s tireless efforts in advocacy, mentorship, and community service make her a beacon of inspiration for fellow Knights and the broader community.
